In Reception this week we have been learning all about the job of Postal Workers.
We have been enjoying making our own letters and postcards, as well as learning about maps. We used some maps to help us find our way around school to deliver letters and we enjoyed getting some letters back!
The children in Puffins have been talking about how they feel with the help of The Color Monster story. They have sorted their feeling into differnt colors and how the colors madfe them feel.
This week our story was The Enormouse Turnip. The children talked about vegetables, tried vegetable soup and acted the pulling of the turnip. We had such a busy week.
Maths fun for all ages at our Maths Café! 🎲📐 From exciting games to brain-teasing challenges for adults, it was a fantastic morning.
Huge thanks to all the adults who attended.
Swallows class have been learning what materials and shapes make strong bridges. Here are some of the finished results.
This week we have started multiplication and division in maths. We used resources to represent the different groups and then we said the sentence explaining the number of groups and how many are in a group to an adult. For example ‘There are 4 equal groups with 10 in each group.’
Kingfishers' class have been working expcetionally hard on their self-portraits over the past few weeks and the results are impressive! Here is one of my favourites! More to follow...
This week, Parrots have been learning all about postal workers. We used a map to deliver letters around the school and decided if we needed to go straight, left, or right based on where we were.
In Year 4 our curriculum topic this term is volcanoes.
Pupils have done some fantastic pieces of work on the positives and negatives of living near volcanoes.
Woodpeckers have been thinking about shading techniques in their art work. This week they transferred these into drawing apples. Their finished results are fantastic!
Year 2 have been experiencing which 3D shape was the strongest to make a bridge. They found that the cuboid held the most books. They will use this information to design and build their bridges next week.
Swallows look great in their animal-themed clothes!
This week in year 2, the children have continued to learn about materials in science. They have been testing which materials are waterproof and which are not. They have been discussing why materials are chosen for different purposes.
The Puffins followed the yellow brick road like in the story of Wizard of Oz. We pretended to be scarecrows, tinmen and lions. We made some red shoes, printed our own yellow roads and finished with playing musical instructments in our band.
On the way we stopped to celebrate Lunar New Year. We made dragons and had a dragon dance.
What a busy week.
Busola in Year 4 has recieved a 'Talent for Writing' award this week.
This fantastic award was for an original piece of creative writing that was selected for publication in a young writers' anthology.
Puffins, Parrots and Penguins enjoyed learning all about Lunar New Year on 29th January. We learned that it is the year of the snake and had great fun exploring new year activities in the provision. We all LOVED tasting noodles and the best part of the day was performing our own 'Dragon Dance'!!
Year Six are hooked on their class reader: Holes by Louis Sacher. We have created text maps to represent all the information about the incredible venomous lizards living in desert. The classes have done a great job using scientific, geographical and a formal tone to inform their audiences about the lizard. They are now having a lot of fun inventing their own animal: The Wabub. We will keep you posted on their progress and their next piece of writing!
Year Six Kestrels have studied the work of Frida Kahlo in order to create their own self-portraits. We have looked at proportions and how to focus on details. We have looked at representing ourselves and our personalities in the background of our art work. Fantastic effort!
The children requested cereal for snack this morning, so they set up their own cafe. With the extra cereal we made birdfeeders.
The children have been listening to fairy tales, this week. For our dance session the children pretended they were at the magical ball.
